Melissa Muguruza Weaver is a graduate of Columbus State Community College where she received a Certificate in Massage Therapy along with over 750 hours of training. Melissa became licensed by The State of Ohio Medical Board in the spring of 2008. She is also a Member of the American Massage Therapists Association, (AMTA)

Continuing Education

Melissa studied Stone Massage with Mary Ware, LMT and teacher at Columbus State Community College in February 2009 earning 12 hours of continuing education. Melissa is preparing to begin 90 hours of continuing education with Timberlake Massage Therapies with Earle Timberlake, LMT in September 2010.

Scope of Practice for Massage Therapists

A massage therapist is not licensed to diagnose, perform manipulations or adjustments of the human skeletal structure, prescribe or provide any other service, procedure or therapy which requires a license to practice; including but not limited to: chiropractic, osteopathy, physical therapy, podiatry, orthopedics, psychotherapy, acupuncture, dermatology, cosmetology, or any other profession or branch of medicine unless specifically licensed to do so.

She's great.

I was referred to Melissa by a colleague, also a licensed massage therapist, that knew of several health issues that I have and felt Melissa had the skills to work with me to address these issues. I had a hernia that was not found for five years, and have been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, which is essentially ulcers on the bladder wall. The hernia has been repaired, the IC is not curable, but can be controlled.

I started working with Melissa late last year and after several sessions of getting to know my tolerances, she started to work on the specific areas that were causing pain. The first of those sessions was pretty intense, but within a few days the benefit of her work became evident. She is continuing to work on those areas and the pain and stiffness are leaving my body. Much of the stiffness has been caused due to the fact that I was in so much pain for so long that my brain was wired to loop back to the pain. Once we broke that loop, although there are days that I falter, I can see a light at the end of all of this.
